In this edition of the biotech bi-weekly, we highlight a product enhancing positive cell selection, a partnership making human heart cells more accessible to researchers and a US$140 million Series C funding award to advance AI-designed therapeutics towards clinical development.
Products
Magnetic nanobeads enhance positive cell selection
Elabscience® (Wuhan, China) has launched EasySort™ Mouse CD4 Nanobeads, their first magnetic bead product for positive cell selection, designed to enrich mouse CD4+ cells for basic research. The product combines dextran-coated superparamagnetic beads measuring less than 40nm with high-affinity antibodies developed by Elabscience. Internal validation showed cell purity of 95.2% ± 3%, cell yield of 66% ± 18% and cell viability of at least 95%. Following separation, the cells can be used directly in downstream culture and functional experiments.
Workflow evaluates large libraries of AI-designed proteins
Tsingke (Beijing, China) has announced an integrated high-throughput validation workflow designed to help researchers experimentally evaluate large libraries of AI-designed proteins and antibodies. Combining gene synthesis, parallel expression, high-throughput screening, scale-up production, purification and quantitative binding analysis, the workflow enables researchers to move large numbers of computationally designed candidates into experimental testing and advance prioritized molecules for deeper characterization.
World’s largest healthy human protein atlas
Ambitious Bio (MA, USA) has announced the launch of Corpus™, the world’s most complete map of protein presence and relative abundance across healthy human tissues. In 181 head-to-head tissue comparisons spanning the major public references and published studies, adding Corpus increased the detected protein inventory every time, with the gain in a typical matched tissue ranging from 28% to 78%.
Partnerships
Expansion into cardiac drug discovery
bit.bio (Cambridge, UK) has announced a partnership with biotechnology company myriamed (Göttingen, Germany). This partnership brings together two companies with a shared commitment to advancing human-relevant research and drug discovery by making high-quality, functional human heart cells more accessible to researchers.
Preclinical testing for Alzheimer’s therapeutic
Philanthropic support from Marie and Vijay Goradia is enabling a research collaboration between Goldenrod Therapeutics and investigators at the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases at University of Texas San Antonio’s Health Science Center (both TX, USA) to evaluate Goldenrod’s investigational small molecule 11h in preclinical models of Alzheimer’s disease.
Therapeutic bispecific antibody programs for oncology
Earendil Labs (Beijing, China) has announced a research collaboration with Genentech (CA, USA) to discover and develop multiple therapeutic bispecific antibody programs in oncology. Under the collaboration, Earendil Labs will lead antibody discovery and research through the early clinical development stage for antibody programs directed to certain pre-agreed target combinations. Genentech will assume responsibility for subsequent global clinical development and commercialization of such antibody programs arising from the collaboration.
People, projects and funding
Advancing AI-designed therapeutics to the clinic
Basecamp Research (London, UK) has announced a US$140 million Series C financing to train a new generation of EDEN models and advance a pipeline of AI-designed therapeutics towards clinical development.
CEO for cell mimics
Slingshot Biosciences (CA, USA) is a company working on precision-engineered cell mimics for flow cytometry. They recently announced that Nimisha Srivastava has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective 23 September 2026. Srivastava previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.
Neuroscience research team to tackle anhedonia
BioMed X (Heidelberg, Germany) has announced the start of a new research team in collaboration with AbbVie (IL, USA) at the BioMed X Institute in New Haven (CT, USA). The new project, entitled ‘Circuit-Based Model Systems of Anhedonia’, will be led by BioMed X innovation boot camp winner Kevin Keary.
